Beginning Blacksmithing – Spring 2025
This class will introduce students to blacksmithing by focusing on various forging techniques including tapering, shouldering, fullering, twisting, drifting and more. We will also cover non-forging techniques such as drilling and finishing. Students will complete several small projects and samples during the course while working towards one or more substantial works. Limit 8 students. Class meets 3 hours a week on Wednesday evenings. Six Sessions. $495, most material included.

Instructor Biography:
Chris Crevelt started his metalworking pursuits at the young age of 16. He first studied to become a farrier but quickly pivoted his passion towards architectural and creative blacksmithing. Chris has worked in various welding and blacksmithing shops throughout his career while also rounding out his metalworking skillset with machining and jewelry making. Chris’s pursuit of betterment and knowledge led him to Sweden to pursue traditional Blacksmithing. After attending two years at Sätergläntan Institute he took and passed his Journeyman exam. Chris has written articles for the California Blacksmith Association and The Artists Blacksmiths Association of North America and has exhibited pieces at the Center for Metal Arts.
