Our Boolean Boxes take their name from an operation in CAD (Computer Aided Design) in which an intersection is removed from a solid object. In this case the boolean is a "missing" cutout from the rectilinear geometry of the lidded box. While the forms are deceptively simple, the hand sawn and decked boolean cut-outs can only be made by an intensive hand fabrication process, thus conforming to Smith Shop's ethos of simple, functional, and beautiful design executed at the highest level of craftsmanship. The boolean boxes are hand fabricated from copper (or brass) sheet metal and come in three sizes. The tension fitted lid is removable and the ergonomic boolean has a contrasting texture that invites your finger.
